IB Subjects

In our IB Diploma Programme in Mexico City, students can choose from a wide range of subjects. In Group 3 (Individuals and Societies), we currently offer History, Economics, Psychology, and Global Politics, while Group 4 (Sciences) includes Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

Since most students select Spanish Language & Literature as their Group 2 subject, they qualify for the coveted Bilingual Diploma, further reinforcing Wingate’s reputation as one of the top IB schools in Mexico City.

Beyond academic study, all students take the three core components of the IB Diploma: Theory of Knowledge (TOK), the Extended Essay (EE), and Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS). These elements promote independent research, communication, critical thinking, community engagement, and a strong sense of social responsibility, helping students connect their learning to real-world experiences.

IBDP Assessment & Grades

Beyond the externally marked IB examinations at the end of the programme, assessment for our IB Diploma involves a wide range of tasks completed throughout the course. These may include written exams, coursework, oral interviews, presentations, scientific investigations, fieldwork projects, and artistic performances.

Subjects are graded on a scale of 1 to 7, with a maximum score of 45 points, including up to three additional points for the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge (TOK) components. Although it does not contribute to the total points score, completion of the CAS component is also required. This comprehensive evaluation system ensures that students demonstrate both subject mastery and essential skills.
