A Well-Rounded Extracurricular Programme for Every Age & Interest

We strive to offer every student the opportunity to discover their unique talents. Whether they are starting in our Kindergarten programme or preparing for life beyond school, Wingate's extracurricular activities offer an exciting variety of options that foster creativity, confidence, communication, teamwork, and resilience.

To ensure all students benefit from our enrichment programme, one standard extracurricular activity is included in the tuition fee for the Primary, Secondary, and IB years.

Sports

Sports are an integral part of our extracurricular programme. From developing fundamental motor skills at an early age to competing at the highest levels, Wingate’s sports programme encourages students to push their limits while fostering discipline, teamwork, sportsmanship, and perseverance.

With experienced coaches, students can expand their talents in a range of activities and competitive teams that cater to different interests and abilities.

Competitive Teams & Achievements

Our school fields up to 28 inter-school teams each week, participating in football, basketball, and volleyball. We have actively competed in school district tournaments and the Liga Poniente across these three sports. Over the past two years, we have consistently ranked 4th place or higher in most categories. Notably, one student, at 17, became the youngest international cricketer.

In addition, we have also recently begun participating in online chess tournaments with great success.

Sports Activities

At Wingate, we offer the following activities at different levels:

We have Taekwondo belt change evaluations every semester, providing students with tangible goals and achievements.

Students can participate in nature walks and horse riding lessons through our partnership with the local ranch. The ranch fields are also used for league matches and training.

Wingate Stem & Robotics

STEM & Robotics

STEM education is thriving at TWS. It is integrated into the curriculum and offered as part of our co-curricular programme, with Robotics, Science, and Coding clubs available as extracurricular options. These activities introduce students to cutting-edge technology while developing problem-solving and logical thinking skills, equipping them for university studies, future careers, and the challenges of an increasingly digital world.

Our STEM and robotics students excel in regional and national competitions, recently ranking first among 50 STEM teams from across Mexico. In competitions at ITAM and TEC de Monterrey, they secured first and third place. They have also been awarded the “Revelación” Prize for their outstanding performances.

Academic & Leadership Clubs

At TWS, we encourage intellectual curiosity through a diverse range of academic clubs and co-curricular activities that foster future-ready skills.

Our Debate & Public Speaking activities help students refine their communication, argumentation, and persuasion skills while competing in inter-school events. Meanwhile, Model United Nations (MUN) allows Secondary students to develop diplomacy and presentation skills, with unique opportunities to participate in global MUN conferences, including those in the USA.

Additional co-curricular clubs include The Voice (student magazine), Book Club, International Award, Dungeons & Dragons, and enrichment activities such as the National English Honour Society.

Preparing Students for Success in Diverse Career Paths

Activities in our extracurricular and co-curricular programmes equip students with both hard and soft skills relevant to careers in STEM, sports and the creative industries. At the same time, they foster general professional abilities and support personal growth, opening doors to success across a wide range of fields.

By participating in these activities, students develop determination, leadership, an entrepreneurial mindset, self-assurance, creativity, logical and critical thinking, public speaking, collaboration, and time management — essential skills for life and any career. They also acquire technical expertise, including programming and proficiency with technological tools, while refining fine motor skills through art, dance, and sports.
